Multimedia
Marking a town’s 125th anniversary calls for more than just a bonfire: it is an opportunity to tell a story. Bois-Colombes has opted for video mapping to retrace, through images, the key milestones in its development since its foundation.
Celesta created a visual narrative combining archive footage, illustrations and contemporary animations, projected onto an iconic building façade in the town centre. The narrative was developed in collaboration with the local council to ensure it remained faithful to the dates and landmarks that are dear to local residents.
A town’s anniversary is often accompanied by a packed programme of events: exhibitions, concerts and street entertainment. The projection mapping show was billed as the highlight of the evening, with a precise timetable to ensure it slotted seamlessly into the rest of the programme.
By opting for a narrative format rather than simply a bonfire, the town offered its residents a moment of collective remembrance, combining education with entertainment. It is an original way of marking a symbolic milestone without simply resorting to a predictable format.
Each fact sheet sets out the background, the site constraints and the approach adopted.
