Pyrotechnics, drones and special effects - three disciplines, one single narrative
Fireworks, drone light shows, and scenic special effects represent Celesta’s three artistic languages. Each can carry a project on its own, and each can also blend into a shared composition.
Depending on your story, your venue, and the desired emotion, Celesta’s pyrotechnicians and designers orchestrate these disciplines, either alone or combined, to create the perfect form.
- Fireworks offer incandescent material and the scale of wide-open spaces.
- The drone light show traces precise, narrative shapes in the sky, with a reduced noise footprint.
- Scenic special effects extend the staging right to the audience, both indoors and outdoors.
Custom fireworks design in France and worldwide
Designing custom fireworks displays both in France and abroad is Celesta’s historical expertise. This discipline draws from French pyrotechnic traditions and is enriched by contemporary design driven by the house’s pyrotechnicians.
Each fireworks display is designed as a visual score, synced to the music via time-code and written into a comprehensive dramaturgy, where fire becomes an expressive medium.
From classic shows to the most advanced stage setups, Celesta’s pyrotechnic designs adapt to the venue, the target audience, and the sponsor’s purpose.

Celesta, French expert in drone light shows
Drone light shows belong to a contemporary writing style that Celesta cultivates as a natural extension of live performance. A growing French house in this discipline, Celesta designs custom aerial choreographies for cultural, institutional, sporting, and brand events. Driven by the artistic vision of Celesta’s teams, the drones draw narrative scenes in the sky, structure an aerial story, and interact with other stage disciplines.
Silent, piloted with millimeter precision, and compatible with sensitive or heritage sites, these systems enrich the experience without replacing other forms of expression. Celesta orchestrates each flight like a light score, designed to serve the audience’s emotion and the sponsor’s identity.
Scenic special effects and pyrotechnic performances
Celesta’s teams design and deploy a wide range of special effects for live performances, events, and audiovisual productions.
- Choreographed flames
- Cold sparks
- Smoke effects
- Confetti and streamers
- Any other effect on request
The meeting of special effects and human performance opens up an embodied artistic field. Synchronized flames, framed sparks, and raw movements intensify the shared emotion with the audience. Each effect responds to a precise narrative function, written beforehand with Celesta’s creators. Safety, precision, and scenic sensitivity: three requirements articulated by Celesta from the initial setup to dismantling.

How much time should be allowed to organize a grand fireworks display?
Count on 3 to 6 months for a structured production: artistic design, administrative declarations, validation of safety plans, pyrotechnic ordering, and rehearsals. Celesta handles prefectural procedures well in advance of the minimum one-month deadline required by Decree No. 2010-580 of May 31, 2010, to secure each step of the file. For high-stakes displays (July 14, municipality anniversaries), starting 9 to 12 months in advance leaves the necessary margin for musical staging.
What is the difference between a drone light show and a traditional fireworks display?
Fireworks rely on the combustion of pyrotechnic elements (powders, oxidizers, coloring metals) and produce an immediate acoustic and sensory emotion. Conversely, drone light shows use a fleet of LED aircraft programmed to draw shapes and animations in the sky, with a more pronounced narrative dimension. Both disciplines serve different artistic intentions and easily combine for a single event.
What is a multimedia show?
A multimedia show combines at least two scenic disciplines among pyrotechnics, drone light shows, video mapping, light, sound systems, lasers, and performers. The goal is to build a coherent visual and audio narrative, in which each technique serves the dramaturgy. Celesta designs these productions in the studio from the writing phase, with precise storyboards and chronograms before rehearsals start.
Does Celesta operate for artist tours in France and abroad?
Yes, Celesta provides pyrotechnics and drone light show services for tours in Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. The company relies on its own ICPE-classified facility in France to produce special effects, then adapts regulatory files to local requirements (specific licenses, customs, ADR and IATA transport). A single point of contact leads logistics coordination throughout the tour.
Can you put on a fireworks show for a wedding in France?
Yes, subject to compliance with regulations: declaration to the city hall and prefecture for displays from category F4 or if the fireworks display exceeds 35 kg of active material, presence of a certified level 2 pyrotechnician (F4-T2), safety perimeter calculated according to the calibers used. Wedding fireworks are subject to Decree No. 2010-580 of May 31, 2010, relating to the acquisition, possession, and use of entertainment fireworks. Celesta manages the entire administrative file for its private clients.
